Hi there, I'm attempting to add the Netgear R6200v1 to OpenWrt's list of supported devices, but am having a bit of trouble getting started. I've successfully downloaded and built the OpenWrt source code for the Broadcom BCM47XX devices, but unfortunately the R6200 doesn't appear in the list of generated devices. I'm a relative Newb to this sort of development, so any pointers would be greatfully received! TIA.

Hopefully you will never have to refer to this tutorial, but for people who like to play with their routers, it sometimes happens -- you accidentally "brick" your router. This tutorial enables you to recover your router by flashing stock firmware back again using serial console and windows PC. Developers who want to get access to their router by using a serial console may also refer to this tutorial. Prerequisites:- Target router with serial connection pins on board. One Ethernet straight cable. An appropriate screwdriver, which is used to open the case of the router. A USB-TTL cable or compatible serial cable. A windows machine installed with following software, - TFTP Client. - Serial Client (preferably Putty. Which can be downloaded here ). - Appropriate driver software for your USB serial cable. Introduction: Using serial console setup users can get access to the serial console of their router. Serial console setup finds its most important use in debricking a router. Moreover, developers may use it to extract useful debug information from their routers. This short tutorial explains how to setup serial console for Netgear R6200v1. Identify location of Serial pins on your router: First open the case of your router. You should be able to find pins for serial communications at the location indicated in Figure1(a). Figure1(a): Serial pin location on your router Note:- Some R6200v1 may not come with pins for serial communications . In such cases, you will have to attach the pins on your own. Go to the location as indicated in Figure1(a), where you will find a connection with the name JP1 as shown in Figure 1(b). Solder the pins here carefully. Figure1(b): Serial pin location on your router Identify important pins on router for serial communication: Important pins on the router for serial communication are identified in Figure 2. R6200v2 config

Hi, Can you all help me configuring my R6200v2 router with DD-WRT? I had a Linksys 160N for some years and it was fully tunned, but now I can't, or I don't know how to, make higher channels (+100) to appear. I think that it's the reason why connection speed don't achieve more than 400mbps compared to 866 when using original firmware. I tried to configure using fixed AC or 5gz, 40 or 80mhz, but nothing worked. Anther question is about setting router's mW power. Can I set all the 700mW that had been stated by Netgear in the product box? Thank you.

Debricking a Netgear D6200

I have a Netgear D6200 WiFi DSL Modem Router ( http://www.netgear.com/home/products/networking/dsl-modems-routers/d6200.aspx... /p> After a power surge, the router has stoped working and now shows a continuously flashing amber light when powered on. I have tried a factory reset and a 30/30/30 reset and neither has made a difference. I have also tried to tftp into the router, but the router is unpingable when connected to a computer over ethernet (and with the computer set to a static IP on the router's default subnet). From Googling and reading through various fora it seems a JTAG/serial based means of trying to recover the router might be the only options available. However I haven't found any instructions or a HOWTO/guide that I feel confident enough to follow, partly because I am new to hardware recovery methods and also because instructions specific to the D6200 do not seem to be available, and I don't know enough (yet) to know what can be safely extrapolated from what works for other routers. Consequently, I'd be grateful for any pointers or advice on whether my router is still recoverable (or how to determine if it is or not) and how to proceed if yes. Any suitable-for-newbies pointers...
